Heavy Rains Coming, June 1st, 2010

Obviously the low pressure systems did not cooperate with sunshine over the weekend, and this week look to be another active week. This morning we have several weak disturbances moving through giving us some light showers ahead of a moist system that will begin affecting the coast this afternoon. The heaviest rain should start late tonight into Wednesday then diminish somewhat Wednesday night as another system develops over the Pacific which should affect our weather by Friday with showers for the weekend. Let’s keep out fingers crossed, the long range models are hinting that next week might not be as wet. The temperatures, Highs 60-65, lows 50-55.

Now, let's speak directly about the system coming tonight into tomorrow. This is actually a strong, winter like system that is unusual for June, and, it has tropical moisture imbedded in it. As a result we are looking at 2-5 inches of rain and while this may not cause the rivers to flood, we could see localized street flooding in certain areas. Additionally, wind gusts to near 50 could be see along the beaches and highlands with 25-35 possible here in town.
